Quiara by Studio Tantrum

What a fun and fast pattern. The basic collar had an Asian feel to me, sort of mandarin like, so I thought the pink dahlia fabric would be perfect. I did the kooky hair things for fun ;)

I like how different the look is with the double sleeves and hood below. I used some super cute Icky Baby Nuts knit with some red velour. She says the red leggings are super warm and comfy. She was having a crazy hair flinging swinging day!

For the leggings I used Ottobre Issue 6-2007. Again a classic pattern.

You really should try a tunic pattern. They are more versatile than I thought they would be.

Man I'm a slacker!

I get all weird about blogging sometimes. It's like it takes too much work or something.....honestly what has slowed me down is. We lost our of dog of 13 years and it has just taken me out at the knees :( I haven't had it in me to post much...Anyone who's lost a longtime pet will understand I'm sure. I keep dreaming he is lost and I need to find him...loving can be hard

Here's some bathing suits I made for myself and my daughters for vacation
I used this great pattern
http://www.biblicalwomanhood.com/fmpswimwearpatterns.htm

Really great instructions.

If you've been scared to try bathing suits..don't be! Like most sewing projects they are easier than our fear of the new project. You know zippers are easier than we think etc...

Here is my oldest daughters suit. She chose the fabrics and the combo of alternating black and red..very fitting for a teen :0)

here are my two suits. :)

and my fav:

here's an action shot of us jumping off the dock in VT

Lastly a suit for my little one, all polka dotty :)

thanks for looking.

I have LOTS more sewing to post about..now I just need to get with it!

Ok, My Turn to Get NAY

When cutting all this Baby Nay and Baby Lulu. I was getting jealous..
I wanna sew with some

Seth is REALLY encouraging me to take weekends OFF!

So, I took Saturday off, well at least the afternoon. I couldn't help myself. I HAD to ship some packages in the morning..anyway I digress

Here is me in my Tahiti Stretch Poplin Skirt
I used the Sew What Skirts Book. I have had it for months, but a friend's sewing post made me drag it out.

When making the pattern I neglected to see the fine print that read, "only use a 1/2" seam allowance when making the skirt with a zipper"! Instead I used the 2" seam allowance as suggested for an elastic waist skirt!

The skirt still works, it just sits a little lowwwww on my hips. No seam rips on this one.

Here is my coolest looking pose...my dd Gabriella took the pic. I was giving my coolest teen look. So, How's I do ?

OK, back to work.

Mermaids!

Eliana picked out this fabric and the pattern the other day when her fever was 104+..(maybe that is why, when able to choose ANY fabric from my stash, or my store...., she choose one from JA's ;) The pink polka dots I picked out to go with the cute mermaids

Not great pics, she is still feeling yucky from being sick....

MC Calls 2596
Nice pattern, pretty good instructions too. I really like the wavy hem. I think I will make more of these over the next year.

A year ago I would have skipped the pockets thinking phooey they will add too much time. I'm so glad I took the extra 20 minutes to do them..She LOVES them.
And a picture of the back:
