See and Sew pattern B5009.. it runs pretty wide, I think.. but maybe that is the style? I thought it was cute, but my son Kyle says they look like PJ's I like the shape and fit of the capris pants, a lot, though.

Matchy Matchy Graduation Dresses

I made this dress for my son's graduation from High School.

He graduated Valedictorian from his Home School/Charter School Program.. We
are VERY proud parents!

I was so happy with how it turned out. I would say it is in my top 5
favorite sewing projects!

I made a matching dress for Eliana.. Here we are doing silly poses for
Seth

A fellow sewing mama made some darling tank dresses for her daughter. It
inspired me to sew some for Eliana :)

I'm glad I like sewing for me.. because someday I won't have little ones
to sew for! .......As it is, my Baby is 6.... (See & Sew Pattern..B4957)

When I make this pattern again.. I will go up one size as it is a tiny bit snug
in the armholes.

Lastly with Eliana in her graduation dress.. She loves being in pictures....sometimes.

Really.. my bags never look very exciting in pictures. But Seth asked me when was the last time I S&S'd something I sewed.. (It's been a couple months!) I have "sewn", a bit, just not "shown" anything.. so lucky you.. You get to see some cool bags that look LAME in pictures :P

My first attempt at the Eco Shopper Pattern...(nice pattern if you like tote bag style bags)

My teachers gifts, this year... I love the one with the Presidents for Kyle's "History Buff" Resource Teacher

This pattern was from Shannon's:) I tweaked it for me and I love it.. I'm going to put a dozen of our chickens eggs in each bag:)

Lastly.. A gift for my Mom(the Mother Hen bag and zippered pouch)...and one for Seth's. Seth's Mom drove a VW bus...Yes she was at Woodstock ;)

The swirls bag is for Baby G's make-up (Gabriella, or "Ya Ya" as she's referred to in the prior "Pink Haired" post) and the Mother's Day one is for me :)

Lastly a picture of Eliana in her birthday dress with a touch of the Robin's Egg Blue I painted my living room walls

Seth and Eliana built this trap in hopes of catching a Leprechaun.. You know they are quite smart so you really have to out smart them.

Eliana drew up the plans and they built it. Though I did go to the craft store to get supplies. My favorite part :)

I just think it might work ;)

I have made a couple outfits for Eliana

These are both using Ottobre 301 T-shirt pattern.. and a skirt from Ottobre . I just love Ottobre.. once you get passed learning how to trace and add seam allowances.. you can count on it working..

Anyway.. here is her new cowgirl outfit..she REALLY did not want her picture taken....

Next up a really playful set.. I think the added touch with the embroidery really makes the skirt standout...Yes she is quite chilly

Landon Ponek

oh yeah!!!!
Landon took the 1st place medal in the sparring segment at his 1st Tae Kwon Do Tournament today in Sacramento

WE are really proud of him
I didn't get to go, as Eliana was sick today.. But I just wanted to show off my boy :)

Not sure who scored the point on this but I thought it showed real effort on both boys part.

Looking pleased after his win.. he is turning into a handsome young man

To have Faith like a child

I soooooo long to have childlike faith. In the last year of my walk with God.. my faith is weak and struggling.

We have changed churches(really hard to do after 9 years), have a struggling teen, loss of faith in the Ministry, money struggles, physical pain..and plain old life....

Today my oldest daughter was reading her Health questions out loud at the breakfast table.

The question was asked "If you have an elderly friend who needs medical attention, where should you send them to get help?"

My 5 year old faith filled daughter.. simply anwsered "Jesus" She completely believes..with her whole being:heart:

Today, I pray, that even though life is tearing me up...

I have prayed for healing and not seen it go "my way"..

...That just today, I can have the faith that my daughter does in the Lord.

I think this amazing beauty gives me hope when peace comes when a day is over..

And the stunning beauty makes me feel humbled and in awe of God's Creation. Days can be downright awful but when you see a sunset like this.. well hope is born again(at least for me)

You know... this is a tough one.

How many times do we read tone or attitude into an email?... I know I am very prone to it.

I tend to assume that someone is coming off with the most rude and angry "tone" as I read an email

Seth taught me a trick of reading every email imagining the sender with a smile... Pretending that, maybe, they didn't mean to sound as 'snarky' as they did. I know when I have to write customers I try and make myself physically smile while I type.. Crazy, I know...

I made a purchase on Etsy last night.. my first. The seller contacted me via email..

I thought her tone was rude! I was thinking, "Gosh, why is she being like that?" Then I thought, "I don't know how's she's being... it's only letters! She was only explaining her policy to me, which she has probably typed out a hundred times!"

I thought, "Man, how often is it is received as rude when I email a customer, quickly as I can, when I have 50 emails to return?"

Anyway.. not sure why I am typing this out.. I guess, just as friendly reminder for myself to consider how little can actually be communicated through text! ..... It's hard to "hear" what is being said.

Do women 'read' a different tone from a woman's email vs. a man's email........ or is it just me?

I try to add smileys :) and friendly words to make sure that the right 'tone' comes through.

What a fun and fast pattern. The basic collar had an Asian feel to me, sort of mandarin like, so I thought the pink dahlia fabric would be perfect. I did the kooky hair things for fun ;)

I like how different the look is with the double sleeves and hood below. I used some super cute Icky Baby Nuts knit with some red velour. She says the red leggings are super warm and comfy. She was having a crazy hair flinging swinging day!

For the leggings I used Ottobre Issue 6-2007. Again a classic pattern.

You really should try a tunic pattern. They are more versatile than I thought they would be.

I had a lot of fun making these wallets and wristlets from the a pattern I got from youcanmakethis.com
The directions are great. They go together easily.
I'm going to make some of these as gifts for Christmas, and stick gift cards inside.

There's enough stress this time of year. There were years where I chose too many, complicated projects that weren't easy...... and then they weren't fun!

I need sewing to be fun!
