Shrinky Dinky

It's important to note that fabric can do what ever it darn well pleases, when you wash it!

It's common for many fabrics to shrink 1%- 3% when washed.... (3% of yard is just over 1 inch). Some can shrink as much as 8% - 10%!

We did a little test run on some Baby Nay Luau.

Before Wash(a 36" cut) After Wash (33")
So.... Beware of cutting it too close! (pun intended).
What's Your experience?

Oh my does that BN ever shrink. I bought some of the tahiti and cut out one of my favorite tops. I liked it so much that I bought some of the lime one. Not sure why, but I prewashed the lime one withe the tahiti top I made. Later I was wearing the tahiti top while cutting the lime for a second top using the same pattern. Then I realized after finishing the lime top that it was longer. I held them up and the lime top is a good 3 inches longer and 2 inches wider!!! I guess that I will wear the tahiti one on a day when I'm feeling skinny! LOL I vow to always prewash my fabric.
